Lingle Middle School’s library got a $20,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation on Sept. 4 to replace books lost in the Memorial Day storm—especially Spanish language titles—and to boost the popular graphic novel section. School leaders said the funds will help restore the library’s collection for its 643 students.

The city announced that Rainbow Road between Wallis Road and Spring Water Way will close to through traffic on Monday for reconstruction of its east half aimed at adding new curb and gutter and improving storm drainage. Local drivers will use detours via Mt. Hebron Road, Wallis Road — Shores Avenue as work continues until late October.
