COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Since a tornado hit the library in May 2024, only a small area at the front is open while residents order books online for pickup. The city is waiting for FEMA to approve a plan that will cover 75% of the roof replacement cost—this step will help rebuild the library better.  5 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Logoly State Park opened in 1978 as one of the first state parks to offer environmental education and has since provided field trips and nature programs for local elementary and high school students.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Piney Point Fire Department last week fought two wildland fires near Rogers that burned over 180 acres — one on Pine Creek Hollow Road and one on Railroad Cut Road — as firefighters collaborated with mutual aid teams amid low humidity and high winds. Officials reported one structure received heavy damage and another had minimal damage, and the fires have since been contained.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Anglers at Beaver Lake have found that a nimble fly rod can make a small nibble feel like a big catch—one of the reasons why fly fishing for black bass is so fun. Many local fishers now try this technique to enjoy the challenge and thrill of the sport.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
