EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Arkansas Senate approved a bill on Wednesday to raise per-student funding for public schools from $7,771 to $8,162 for the 2025-2026 school year—now the measure will move to the House of Representatives for further review.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State senators passed House Bill 1150 by a vote of 26 to 9, a measure that would force pharmacy benefit managers to choose between holding a pharmacy license and owning a retail pharmacy such as CVS. CVS warned the measure may lead to the closing of 23 pharmacies statewide and the bill now goes to Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders for review— a decision that could reshape Arkansas’s pharmacy landscape.  5 News
  • Franklin County Judge Rickey Bowman said he was surprised to learn about plans for the state prison in Franklin County—citing a lack of workforce and infrastructure—and warned that the project would cost taxpayers too much. He noted that a $750 million bill for the project has failed five times in the Senate and hopes future proposals meet better criteria.  5 News
