GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Senate Bill 421 now heads to the governor’s desk—sponsor Bart Hester said he expects a signing in the next several days—which would let the state borrow up to $500 million to fix water and sewer systems. If voters approve the measure in November, the bond amount could increase by $200 million to help fund needed projects. 4029 News
- ➤ Immigrants needing to check in with federal ICE must now travel from Fayetteville and Fort Smith to Little Rock for in-person check-ins — as confirmed by an immigrant rights group and a Rogers immigration attorney on Thursday. The change from weekly check-ins at the previous locations to a once-a-month schedule in Little Rock may make travel challenging for those with pending immigration cases.
