  • A Gentry man was sentenced to 12 years in prison—after shooting at a motorcycle during a parking lot dispute at a Bentonville gas station.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Two men were arrested in Springdale after neighbors reported that they were making roosters fight and waived arraignment in Washington County Circuit Court on Wednesday—each man has been given a court date.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After several days of heavy rains, officials opened seven spillway gates at Beaver Lake Dam to lower the lake level and draw local onlookers and anglers; all but one gate closed by 11 a.m. Tuesday as the lake reached near its flood pool level.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Sarah Sanders awarded $468,838.69 in outdoor recreation grants on Wednesday morning to four cities—including Denning at $73,897.50 and Sulphur Springs at $159,550—to build walking trails as part of the revived Great Strides program funded by the Tobacco Settlement Fund. Two of the recipients are local from the River Valley and Northwest Arkansas, while Ozan received $121,200 and Keo received $114,192.  4029 News
