Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 4th of May.
Good morning, Rogers.
🏛️ Government
Voters in Northwest Arkansas will begin early voting Tuesday through May 12 for school board, millage and fire dues elections in Benton and Washington counties, with Election Day on May 13.
Key races include a three-way contest for Rogers School Board Zone 5 & proposals to raise fire dues and tax rates in select school districts.
A state document shows that Northwest Arkansas counties, which hold one-third of the state's population, will receive only one-sixth of the federal funds set aside for crime victims under a new plan—leaving many local victims with limited help.
🏈 Sports
The University of Arkansas men's and women's track teams competed on Saturday at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge and posted season-best marks as they prepared for the SEC Outdoor Championships set for May 15—17.
The teams, ranked No.8 on the men's side and No.4 on the women's, focused on refining their times ahead of upcoming events.
