  • The Rogers Goodwill Resource Center and Outlet Store is reopening today at 9 a.m. at 1301 N. Dixieland Road after a year of repairs from storm damage caused by an EF2 tornado—repairs fixed the building’s front walls and roof. The reopening celebration will feature a brief ceremony, a two-minute 'Bins Bonanza' contest, employment assistance at the center, and food from KDK's Chicken and Waffles from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Today, local groups offer outdoor events as the Peel Compton Foundation hosts a free native plant walk at Osage Park and Ozark Hill Hikers lead a morning walk in Bentonville with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Past highlights include a bass tournament win at Beaver Lake, and upcoming activities feature a river cleanup in Carroll County Saturday, a state fishing derby, youth kayaking classes, and an astronomy night scheduled through mid-June — all aimed at engaging community members in outdoor recreation.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Former police chief and convicted killer and rapist Grant Hardin escaped on Sunday afternoon from the North Central Unit prison in Calico Rock (wearing a makeshift disguise meant to mimic law enforcement) and Benton County authorities are now on high alert.  4029 News

  • Recent Bentonville graduate Matthew Shelly passed defending champion Kaden Evans in the final 100 meters to win the 3,200 at the RunningLane Track Championships this past weekend in Huntsville, Ala. Rogers sophomore Elizabeth Scudder won the girls’ 2,000 steeplechase and other local athletes also starred—boosting Arkansas track success.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
