GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission announced it will allocate $16.6 million in federal funding for regional transportation projects — the funds are expected if the aid comes through for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1. The money will support 21 projects to improve roads, pedestrian walkways and bicycle routes — grant recipients must match 20% of the funding. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ AHCA announced today that it is opening a nursing school for its members to help certified nursing assistants become licensed practical nurses in Little Rock, Rogers and Jonesboro. The program will begin this month with an inaugural class of 71 students who finished needed courses at Ozarka College — a step aimed at boosting career chances — as they work toward their practical nurse license. 5 News
