  • America's Car-Mart Inc. of Rogers reported rising sales and profit in fiscal Q4 with a net income of $10.6 million, up from $416,000 last year. The auto retailer sold 15,649 vehicles and earned revenue of $370.2 million, with interest income and sales growth boosting performance (earning $1.26 per share).  5 News

CRIME NEWS

  • A woman filed a lawsuit claiming that former endocrinologist Adam Maass sexually abused her from age 15 to 24 and that his employers were negligent in hiring him due to faulty background checks—Maass was arrested in 2022 and later reached plea deals.  4029 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers support a law that requires schools and government buildings to display the 10 Commandments and a national motto—families and the ACLU filed a lawsuit arguing that the law forces a religious view on students. The suit names several school districts and a federal judge is expected to rule this summer before classes begin.  5 News
  • On Thursday the state Board of Finance approved submitting an application to the Insurance Department to form a state-owned captive insurance company that will cover property insurance for public schools, higher education institutions and state agencies — if approved before July 1, it will be managed by the state Department of Shared Administrative Services and funded with $136 million in one-time funds.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
