Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 27th of June.
Good morning, Rogers.
🏛️ Government
The Rogers Parks and Recreation Department is restoring a tree-lined stretch along Razorback Greenway near Horsebarn Park with a $20,000 grant from Black Hills Energy.
The project began immediately and will continue until the end of the year—while 400 trees will be given away this fall.
Washington County election officials are reviewing new state laws that change voter registration transfers, voting assistance requirements, and ballot remaking procedures—clarifications will be addressed at a July 10 meeting.
The commission also welcomed new member Alexis Ward, who replaces Max Deitchler, and announced an 'I Voted' sticker contest for the 2026 election.
🏈 Sports
Chris Wood has accepted a new role on Coach Rhett Lashlee’s football staff at SMU as director of high school relations.
Wood (who spent 20 years at Har-Ber and in the Springdale School District) will move with his wife April to begin coordinating high school coaching relationships and running camps.
