EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty-five new students have been picked for the Arkansas Tech University Honors program to begin in fall 2025, including Mason See from Rogers. The program (which needs a 3.5 high school GPA and a 27 ACT score) offers small, interactive classes and close work with faculty to build academic and personal skills.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Benton County’s planning director will leave her job near the end of next month — her resignation is effective Aug 22 — and will start as a regional planner for the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission on Aug 25.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansans will shop tax-free on select school supplies, clothing, footwear and student electronics on Aug. 2 and Aug. 3—only items meeting price limits qualify as exempt. Retailers must follow DFA rules, and single items over the limits or items like sewing equipment will have tax applied.  5 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rising summer temperatures and heat warnings are affecting Rogers this week as experts advise residents to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water when outdoors to prevent dehydration and cramps. The Bentonville Fire Department reports no significant heat-related calls so far — while the Rogers Aquatic Center now permits personal chairs and umbrellas for added shade — to help keep everyone safe.  4029 News
