CRIME NEWS

  • A Rogers man, Zachary James Campbell, who was sentenced in 2010 for shaking his infant and causing permanent injuries, pleaded not guilty to capital murder on Aug 25—he faces a pretrial hearing on Sept 29 after a warrant for his arrest and nationwide extradition efforts were issued.  5 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas governor's office announced that rural Northwest Arkansas communities have been awarded $11.5 million in federal grants for infrastructure improvements—Benton County will receive $1 million for a water line extension while other towns get funds for wastewater upgrades, sidewalks and community services. These awards are part of the Community Development Block Grant programs that support towns with high low-to-moderate income populations.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
