  • On Wednesday, the Walton Family Foundation renewed its support for the Northwest Arkansas Kiva Hub by committing $1 million over three years to match loans for small business owners.   • Bentonville-based startup Sober Sidekick was named a finalist for the Kraft Prize for Excellence and Innovation in Community Health and received $10,000—its app has over 1 million installs and reports a 48% drop in relapse rates. Kinetic was preapproved for federal broadband grants to bring high-speed internet to 52,000 rural locations—while the Arkansas Index closed higher amid expectations of a federal rate cut.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • On Sept 11, 1857, 121 people from northwest Arkansas were killed in the Mountain Meadows Massacre when a wagon train bound for California was attacked—only 17 small children survived the brutal assault.  4029 News

  • Mia Hamm delivered a lecture yesterday at Crystal Bridges museum as the new exhibit opened and explained that selflessness helped build strong soccer teams—reflecting her belief in the power of the collective.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Consensus 4-star offensive lineman Bryce Gilmore reopened his recruitment after committing to Arkansas in June; he narrowed his list to Arkansas, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Penn State and Ole Miss and canceled planned visits to Penn State, Texas Tech and Ole Miss+ he had already visited Arkansas and Arizona State, leaving Arkansas with 26 commitments for the class.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
