GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Due to a severe weather threat, the Benton County Sheriff's Office postponed its Parent Night Out event to September 30 and will combine it with next week's event at Bentonville High School (doors open at 5:15 p.m. and events run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Lt. Shannon Jenkins said the change is made to keep families and staff safe. 4029 News
- ➤ The Benton County Jail now has a $2 million expansion that added a modern medical wing with exam and mental health rooms, a new intake area with a body scanner and a sally port that holds up to six vehicles. Officials said the project started in June 2024 and inmate work saved the county at least $200,000 — a measure that will improve daily care for jail inmates. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
