EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Rogers School District has paused new remodeling projects due to an insurance dispute—further work may resume when the issue is resolved.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Master gardener Marty Powers planted over 1,000 milkweed plants along a mile stretch near the Northwest Arkansas Airport to help support the monarch butterfly population, which has declined more than 80% since the 1990s; local projects like the Game & Fish Commission’s citizen science initiative are tracking sightings to guide future conservation efforts.  The Arkansas Traveler

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officer Cody Douglas of the Barling Police Department jumped into the Arkansas River on April 7 to rescue a person from a car that entered the water. He was named Arkansas Officer of the Year by the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police on Sept. 30 — his bravery earned him the award.  5 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • More than 5,000 homes were sold in Northwest Arkansas in the first half of 2025—5.2% higher than the first half of 2024 and only the fourth time this level has been reached since 2004. Average prices rose to $471,427 in Benton County and $417,489 in Washington County—local officials say growing infrastructure concerns may soon be addressed.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Matt Jones and Christina Long recapped Monday’s news conference with Hunter Yurachek and Bobby Petrino where they detailed remarks on Arkansas football. Baseball America’s Jacob Rudner also spoke on the SEC coaches meeting—where they discussed using machines to call balls and strikes to modernize play.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
