- ➤ Master gardener Marty Powers planted over 1,000 milkweed plants along a mile stretch near the Northwest Arkansas Airport to help support the monarch butterfly population, which has declined more than 80% since the 1990s; local projects like the Game & Fish Commission’s citizen science initiative are tracking sightings to guide future conservation efforts. - ➤ Officer Cody Douglas of the Barling Police Department jumped into the Arkansas River on April 7 to rescue a person from a car that entered the water. He was named Arkansas Officer of the Year by the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police on Sept. 30 — his bravery earned him the award. 5 News

- ➤ More than 5,000 homes were sold in Northwest Arkansas in the first half of 2025—5.2% higher than the first half of 2024 and only the fourth time this level has been reached since 2004.
