- ➤ Residents in Northwest Arkansas are watching the possible ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and are hopeful that a pause in the conflict will bring the release of hostages and prisoners — Rabbi Jacob Adler and Ted Swedenburg said the deal is a first step toward peace after two years of fighting. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with his government today to approve the initial phase of the agreement. 4029 News

- ➤ On Thursday, Washington County planners examined two decades of fast growth and heard expert Jeff Hawkins call for using regular zoning in unincorporated areas to better control future development. - ➤ On Thursday, a divided legislative committee recommended that the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee reverse its July decision — which halted funding for cities that had not filed water and sewer audit reports — by notifying state Treasurer John Thurston’s office.
