- ➤ Rachel Caldwell from Piedmont, Okla. and Addy Taye Ward from Bentonville were selected as the first recipients of the Korey Brooke Heath Memorial Scholarship by the ATU Foundation at Arkansas Tech University. Both juniors in their second semester of nursing school and active on their sports teams were recognized for their interest in oncology nursing inspired by personal experiences with cancer — a recognition that helps ease financial pressures as they pursue their nursing careers. - ➤ The USDA announced plans in September to phase out the Household Food Security Reports that rated Arkansas as the hungriest state — the agency said the reports offered only subjective, liberal fodder. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Recent Benton County inspections revealed multiple food safety issues at local establishments—Nola’s Pantry in Rogers was found with a pink slimy buildup in its ice machine, and several restaurants had problems with food temperatures, expired permits, and unsanitary equipment that may risk foodborne illness.
