  • Bentonville-based Walmart announced on Friday that CEO Doug McMillon will retire on January 31, 2026—he will stay on the board until the next shareholders meeting. Head of U.S. operations John Furner is scheduled to take over the role in 2026.  4029 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country singer Parker McCollum announced his 2026 self-titled tour will include a stop at the Walmart AMP in Rogers on Friday, Sept. 18, with gates opening at 6 p.m. and tickets going on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21 (ticket prices range from $54 to $134 plus fees) (he recently released his fifth album and earned multiple ACM awards).  5 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • A sports podcast with Matt Jones and Christina Long discussed Arkansas' football coaching search and reported that Hunter Yurachek was promoted to chairman of the College Football Playoff selection committee—and they shared predictions for the upcoming Razorbacks versus LSU game this weekend.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Bentonville West advanced with a 34-33 win over North Little Rock as sophomore Asher Swoboda scored a final minute touchdown—averting a historic miscue in the Class 7A state playoffs.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Little Rock Christian Warriors beat Springdale Har-Ber Wildcats 44-34 on Friday night and moved to the quarterfinals (sophomore quarterback Eli Robertson ran for three touchdowns and 136 yards) as running back Jackson Ward gained 220 yards on 29 carries (with two touchdowns) while they will play Rogers next weekend.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
