  • The Jones Center in Springdale now offers aquatics, hockey and figure skating programs for local residents. The center serves as an inclusive hub for community enrichment and activity.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • National and international brewers and researchers will meet in Northwest Arkansas in early February for a conference on nonalcoholic beer production (the fastest growing segment of the industry).  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Dec. 14, the Theatre Collective of Northwest Arkansas announced its new season and board lineup featuring founder Rachel Mills and new member Natalie Burchit, alongside Stephanie Jessing, Sarah Doyle, Lexie Edmunds, Patrick Edmunds, and Anna Haslett-Adams.   • The Overlook (long-awaited update) now features custom planter benches by local artist Eugene Sargent and plants donated by Westwood Gardens, making it a welcoming spot to enjoy the final sunset of 2025.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Rogers Historical Museum and Public Library launch Museum and Me, a free, hour-long program for children 3-5 at 313 S. Second St. with sessions starting Jan. 13 and continuing through May 12. HEALTH NEWS

  • The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Institute for Community Health Innovation in Springdale received an $11.7 million NIH grant in October to create a Maternal and Reproductive Community Health Excellence Research Center. SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, Dec. 20, the Razorbacks played the Cougars at Prudential Center in Newark — Houston’s strong defense and forced turnovers kept Arkansas off-balance despite a 12-1 run and key plays by Darius Acuff and Karter Knox.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Saturday night, Houston built a strong lead with a 21 to 2 run to beat Arkansas 94 to 85 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., snapping the Razorbacks four-game win streak.
