BUSINESS NEWS

  • Academy Bank opened its first branch in Rogers today at 4301 S. J.B. Hunt Drive in Pinnacle Hills and will offer personal, business, and commercial banking services from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday — Friday.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Rogers sold a medical and retail property for $4.75 million when Jonesboro-based Long Point Enterprises, LLC bought the two-acre site at South Dixieland Road and South Pleasant Crossing — the property has two buildings with about 4,000 square feet leased to Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas and 8,800 square feet rented to Los Compas Margaritatown Restaurant and JP&O, and it was developed in 2020 for Chordline Holdings by Haag Brown Commercial.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • The FBI is investigating Rogers psychiatrist Brian Hyatt for allegedly detaining patients without consent at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale from January 2018 to June 2022—over 200 lawsuits and Medicaid fraud charges follow as victims say the hospital felt like jail.  5 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In a public forum held Wednesday at Centerton City Hall, data from DPZ CoDesign showed households in Benton and Washington counties spent 24% of their income on transportation costs and 22% on housing—figures that may drive major changes in regional planning. Council President Nelson Peacock said resident input will help shape future strategies to address rising costs and infrastructure needs.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Benton County Planning Board approved the Beaver Water District's expansion plan to boost water treatment capacity by about 63% in Bentonville. Officials said the project will begin in the coming months—allowing the district to meet growing demand.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former top woman golfer Stacy Lewis, 40, announced she will end her time on the LPGA Tour during a pro-am event at the NW Arkansas Championship in Rogers yesterday. She said this season will be her last as she looks forward to more time with her family (after a 17-year career with 13 wins) and to plan her future (following many top moments).  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
